Sarah Marie Riordan

Sarah Marie RiordanPh.D. Student

Sarah is originally from Western Pa., about an hour North of Pittsburgh.She went to Robert Morris University for undergrad, where she studied mechanical and biomedical engineering.  At CMU, she has studied biomedical engineering with a focus on medical devices. Sarah is currently in the Engineering & Public Policy Ph.D. program. She has two main research projects: one is looking at trends of FDA medical device recalls in relationship to policy changes, and the other is helping a local start-up company develop a technology-based solution to the opioid epidemic. Outside of the lab, Sarah enjoys running and baking.

Discovery at the rich interface of chemistry, biology, and material science to incorporate
biological molecules and polymers for the creation of multifunctional materials.
